Well, last night sucked balls, so let me vent…
To start things off, I had an awesome day yesterday. Some server issues here at work, but that was the worst of it. Otherwise, the day was rocking. I even found a faster way home than I usually go, and I think I’ll be taking it from now on Wednesday evenings.
I picked up the munchkin from Grandma and Grandpa’s. I’m heading down Brodie, and about to turn onto Slaughter. Then teh suck happened. First, I end up at the front of the line at the red light. No biggie, better than being last, and I wasn’t really in a rush or anything. THEN, the car sputters a bit. I look down at the dash, and the idiot lights are blinking like Vegas at night. I turn the car off real quick, and turn it back on. It starts. It runs fine for about ten seconds…then sputters again. And dies. Won’t turn back on. So, the light turns green, and there I am with my car that won’t start. I’m in a left turn only lane with two lanes of traffic to my right, so my only real choice is to push the car through the intersection while making a left, and hopefully get to the convenience store parking lot. TEH SUCK! So, I jump out with Jacob sitting terrified in the passenger seat, tell him to stay put, and push the car. I nearly trip and have the car roll over my leg, but lucked out and caught myself. Some guy comes out and helps me after I’ve already got the car rolling pretty well anyhow, but his intent is appreciated.
We get into the parking lot, and I pop the hood. Go for the flashlight….that isn’t in the car… Don’t know where it is. I had purchased several flashlights, but none of them are in the vehicle, and I can’t find any around the house after I eventually get home. Good times.
Anyhow, I see nothing wrong. Figure it’s going to be a fun walk home with the 10 year old and his feet that already hurt (IE: In 10 year old speak, “My feet hurt.” means, “I’m hungry and tired and bored and I haven’t had dinner yet and I don’t want to do what we’re doing and you suck for making me do this you evil evil man.”). So I go in and tell the clerk in the store that a tow truck is going to be there shortly to pick up the car, and I go out to walk home. On a whim, I try the key….
Miracle of miracles…it turned on. I quickly got in the car and drove the mile or so to my place, praying the whole way that I won’t break down again.
I don’t know what happened. The spark plug wires were a little loose on the distributor cap, and the oil was really low. So I fixed both of those issues, but I’m not sure if that’s what caused the dying engine issue.
On the plus side…
My wife was super awesome supportive last night as I vented to her about car problems, etc…
Jacob is doing MUCH better in school than we expected him to be at this point.
Will hasn’t had any more seizures.
Our tax return should be coming in relatively soon, though not as soon as we’d like. Hopefully a new-to-me car with less issues will be a result.
I’m losing body fat, and gaining muscle. Can’t tell unless you really look for it, but I’m happy about it, slow though it may be.
