So, I’m trying to get back to school. I’ve made progress, but also met with some setbacks.
Frustrating.
The good…
Am a student at ACC for the fall semester, at least for now.
Counsellor was awesome, and it looks as though the best way for me to go for my 4 year degree will be Texas State.
I have declared a major – Business Administration.
I am still eligible for my military benefits…at least for now.
I have my student aid app in, and will hopefully be eligible for a student loan or two which will help me immensely in ensuring a successful college career and reducing my stress while going to school.
Coleen has been AWESOMELY supportive, as have my coworkers.
I’m really excited about going back to school.
My work offers educational leave, which my supervisor has encouraged me to apply for. Considering her level in management, it’s pretty much a done deal…if I can get the rest of "The Bad" taken care of.
I’ll be graduating from the same school that my wife just did, which is kind of cool on a sentimental/emotional/goo-ga level.
The bad…
I apparently still owe about five hundred dollars to my old college in MT. This means I can not get my transcripts until I pay that off. I must turn in those transcripts to ACC by July 10, or I can not register or utilize the GI Bill funds I am due. The GI Bill is set up so that you can not repeat any class you have taken. Hopefully, I’ll be able to come up with the money soon. If not, I may have to wait another semester.
My math skills are apparently made of fail. I haven’t done anything beyond financial math in a long time. Calculating the slope of a line is beyond me, much less some of the other things whose names I can not even recall. This will cost me in additional classes for math, and more time before I graduate.
I have to take placement tests for my classes. Most are paid for I believe, but I think some of the tutoring/pretests I need are not paid for. blarg…
I’m really nervous about going back to school. Irrational I know, but still there. I guess it’s true what the Vulcans say, Humans are illogical and irrational creatures, even at the best of times. Peace and long life sounds a lot better than headaches and ulcers in perpetuity.
I have to attend a VA orientation on Wednesday morning, in order to get my VA benefits. Hopefully it works out well.
I may only have 2 semesters of VA benefits to call upon, which is made of suck. They really ought to extend those benefits so that they never expire. Veterans deserve better than an expiration date.
My car is having issues that worry me as far as being able to get to class goes.
One can not double major using the GI Bill. One degree at a time apparently. Oh well, I can bump that up to two after the benefits expire and I’ve transferred to TX State.
hehehe…. Tasks out of the way. YAY!!!
