Re: Current Assignment
Hammer Foebeard;
We would like to thank you for your services these past thirteen years in the Holy Archives, teaching the children the basics of lettering in stone. Your work has proven exemplary, and it is the Council’s understanding, after speaking with many of your students’ parents, that you have done an excellent job. We further congratulate you on the end of your first marriage contract. The Church is always happy to see the members of our priesthood complete their civil obligations in such an honorable manner, and I am proud to have helped you negotiate the renewal of your contract. I hope that both Scordite and yourself are very happy in your next one hundred and fifty years.
Unfortunately, time does not always allow us to follow a leisurely path as we might desire. I know you are still weary from your former assignment at Stre’s Depth, and that you would prefer to avoid any risky assignments until you have found more peace. However, we are obligated by necessity to assign you to a very special task.
Anvil Mordin Stormbeard, Her Majesty Isabo DeLuna, Lord Minozh, and a few other undetermined guests will be leaving tomorrow on a journey. At this time, we feel that it is in the best interests of the Church of Moradin, and thus the Dwarven people, to assign you to this venture as well. Your purpose will be twofold. First, and foremost, you are to get to know Dwarf-brother Minozh and document as much of his life and travels as you are able to glean from him throughout the trip. Secondly, your experience in combat, especially underground, and your ability to heal your fellow travelers will be required. We have not informed Dwarf-brother Minozh of your task, and would request that you use your own judgment on when or if to inform him tactfully.
The council thus directs you to stop by the infirmary for medical supplies, the armory for your travelling armor (Smelter Clang’din Lightseeker has agreed to loan you his Blessed Armor of the Forge, treat it well), and your new Hammer. Do not forget to stop by my office for prayers before meeting Anvil Stormbeard in his office at first hammer strike tomorrow morning. Anvil Stormbeard will brief you in more detail regarding your assignment. I apologize for being so vague, but please trust that it is a necessity.
Moradin bless thee,
